A second method is to make up a card, or sheet of paper, with the letters of the alphabet arranged in a circle, much as on a talking board. Mark a cross in the very center and hold the pendulum so that it hangs down over that central cross. This time the pendulum will swing out over the intended letter, but again give it time. It would not be easy to quickly change direction, so ask spirit to swing at least three times over the letter. You will find, then, that it will swing several times over one letter and then swing backward and forward over others as it moves around the circle until it arrives at the next needed letter, and then it will start swinging several times over that one, and so on.

You can get other information from spirit. For example, if you are trying to locate somebody or something, you can work with a map. Hold the pendulum with one hand, and with the other hand point your finger at the map. You can trace a route on the map, asking spirit for yes or no indications of which way to go, whether to turn left or right, what to do at a crossroads, and so forth. There is a wealth of information you can get from spirit when working with a pendulum.
